Current projects that Lasting Differences are working on currently.
Freed is a project that originated from working with clients during the past year. It delivers three separate, small group courses to client's mainly experiencing drug and alcohol misuse, domestic abuse and low self-confidence, worth and esteem in the Bassetlaw and the surrounding areas.
The impact of domestic abuse on female survivors
Living life again outside of drug and alcohol abuse
Understanding Self (covering self-esteem, confidence and assertiveness)
Clients Gain Knowledge within:
Issues affecting them and are offered additional support to help them progress to the next stage of their personal journeys, with confidence.
They also learn coping strategies to keep them safe, free from fear and dependency.
Our Peer Mentor’s:
Relate to client's having experienced similar issues themselves.
Understand that the past and additional external factors can also contribute towards a client’s fear of progressing this could include; learning difficulties, mental health, domestic abuse.
Signpost and support clients to access other interventions internal or external to Lasting Differences.
Support the Key Worker with preparation and facilitation of the group.
Gain self-worth and equality and be expected to attend training and relevant meetings to enhance theirs and the group's purpose.

Support and be responsible for Peer Mentors
Hidden Talents is a skills based friendship group that will be accessible to all living in the community inclusive of gender, race, sexual orientation, age (over 18+) ability and disability/learning difficulties and runs half a day, per week (term time only) from St John’s Community Building. Hidden Talents was originally requested by our team of peer mentors as an extension to our services. Our Peer Mentors have consulted with our clients to find how they would like Hidden Talents to run and therefore is:
• A peer mentor/user group led
• Delivers skill based sessions to individuals with low skill and qualification levels
• Breaks down barriers of loneliness and isolation that exist within members of the community
• Improves an individuals self confidence, esteem and worth enabling them to access community groups and talk to trained individuals about their issues
• Raise a person's aspirations to take their new skills and interests to the next level of their personal journeys for example take positive steps towards volunteering/community activity, further learning or employment/self employment.
This a 12-week programme. That rebuilds a client's trust in making positive, safe and healthy relationships. Breathe is delivered in Nottingham City and in Worksop. Supporting a total of 164 present/past care leavers on a 1:1 and group basis. Breathe:
Raises awareness of domestic violence and domestic abuse
Challenges misconceptions domestic violence
Identifies local, regional and national support networks
Promotes positive and safe choices
Explores perpetrator's behaviour
Reduces a client’s feelings of loneliness, isolation, self-harm, drug/alcohol misuse, low health and wellbeing
Reduces cases of domestic violence and domestic abuse
Raises confidence, esteem, worth and assertiveness levels
Identifies early warning signs of perpetrators
Outcomes are measured by using Rickter Scale and self-assessment focus on achieving the following:
Raised levels of health/well being
Improved skills and knowledge
Progression into employment, further learning or community/voluntary activity
Improved coping strategies
